Hey, I have relatively thick hair too, and a round face. A suggestion is to go about chin length at the front, and have it shorter and layered in the back. Bangs are an option, if you like, but I wouldn't do that. If you're also interested in a more stylish look, you could have it so one side of the front of your hair is about an inch longer then the other. please go to a professional and spend money on getting the exact color you want. i cant see you to tell you what i think is best. but you always want to try and match your eyes, not saying green hair but maybe a red would be nice. a professional can foil all different colors in your hair to make a nice contrast. it is worth the money i promise.

heres a little advice about box color. in the industry i am in we charge a hefty price to correct people mistakes that they do themselves. we love box colors because people mess their hair up and then come to us to fix it. i mean c'mon a 5 dollar box of color is suppose to create miracles!! lol

why don't you go to a salon and have the color weaved in. a salon can foil your hair and altenate the colors in the foil. you will have your nat. brown as the base color (not wraped in foil) and this way the roots won't won't look as bad while growing out. . have blonde and red tones weaved in the foil. this turns out really well and looks great.!

i was thinking about putting a chocolate brown semi-permanent [l'oreal casting] on top, every 6 weeks until it grows out. is this a good idea, or a recipe for disaster?

Hi, Im a hair dresser.

First of all colouring your hair at home can only eventualy lead to dissaster so Id advise against it.

Second. DONT let a hair dresser strip it as if you are going brown it would need toy be coloured red first anyway to pre- pigment and prevent any khaki tones.

This IS an easyish job, but I realy would suggest goint to a salon as easy mistakes are made such as the going purple:

You only need a flat base colour ( the hairdresser will know all this) as if you try to combat the red with an ashy colour (blue/green) you will get purple or sludge!

A L'oreal salon that uses Richesse de diacolour or composite would be your best bet.

DONT get ripped off, you have done half the work yourself.

If you try dying red hair brown, there is a high possibility that your hair is going to turn purple. I know from experience. You really should just consider getting the color stripped from your hair. It's kinda hard on your hair, though.

Try a body moisturiser that gives you a gradual tan, there are lots on the market and not that expensive either.

You should feel free to wear a dress if you want to, don't be intimidated by pale skin.

Often we see our faults and augment them, no one else really cares.

Are you worried that your legs will get burnt? Or that someone won't like that your legs are white?

if you are worried about burning, then you buy lotion for your legs that contains melanin and that will help you to eventually not burn. They have pills now too, but I have never tried those, the lotion works though, over time. I have used it! It really does work.

If you are worried about others not liking your white legs, don't worry about it! Some people like tan legs and some people like white. I like guys that are white all over (no farmer tans). I think it is amazing looking. So yeah, go ahead and show off your white legs! you will find guys that love it:) Don't worry:) Just be yourself and don't be self-conscious:) Hold you head high, and people will respect you:)

dont let the colour of your skin restrict what you wear.

just make sure you wear a very high factor sunscreen. and try not to stay in the sun too long.

if your worried about looking pale... theres always fake tan (wouldnt reccomend this).... or a spray tan.

or you could just wear some tights with a slight bit of tan colour to them. avoid sheer (they make it obvious that your wearing tights)

Sure you can...Be more concerned with the color of the dress and shoes rather than your pale legs...Stockings can fit your leg tones, but does the other colors compliment you? I say NO to White below the waist..

As long as the dress is a pale colour to make you look more tanned, you should be fine. Don't forget, you could always wear flesh coloured tights, or use some fake tan.

The semi permanent dyes, like natural instincts.. will color over red to a brown shade, but you risk never getting it back to your shade of red. Semi colors take longer to fade or wash out when you darken the hair. Since it would be covering the red with a darker color. It is hard to cover natural red, unless you go for a dark brown. If your color messes up or you want to get rid of it, buy this product called "color oops" at CVS or other drugstores. It will get you back to rnatural color or close to it. Any home coloring has a risk, so just be cautious. I'm sure you have beautiful red hair.

My science teacher used that but her hair was so blonde she dyed it red and the blonde came back in a few days. so it could come out in only a few days if you would like to try those. If you like it, then go for it. However, I would recommend spending the money at a good salon and having it done there, it will be done properly and should last longer. Also, use shampoos made specifically for red hair as it is the fastest colour to fade. It will also fade faster in the sun. I get the same things...I exfoliate in the shower which helps prevent them a little.

Coconut oil/cream is very good to get rid of stetch marks and other scarring skin conditions. Also Vitamin E oil directly out of the vitamin.

(Make sure that the hair is out however).

Then lastly, maybe if you are really conscience of them, tanning up a bit will help hide them.

Before? Not really. The best thing I have found to do is to use Baby shampoo. Its possible that the shampoo you have been using is stripping the color out. Even if the bottle says "for color treated hair" it can happen. Pert is BAD for that. Try to wait at least a day before washing your hair after you get it colored. Try the "no more tears" kind. It smells good too! :) Ask about color depositing shampoos as well when you talk to the hairdresser.

Red is the hardest color to keep. I've been dying my hair red for a long time and in the beginning like you it lasted only a few weeks at the most, sometimes only days. I started using redken color shampoos. My stylist had to purchase them for me though.....they special mixed them exactly to the red dye she used. (they use redken color) I'm sure if you're going to an elite salon they probably use redken or aveda and they both have special color shampoos that work really well. That's probably your only option is to use the color shampoo and to get it done every 6 weeks.

The salon should be dealing with this for you. Two weeks is unacceptable and they should of redone the color last time. This time ask them to fill the color prior to coloring. Also perhaps you need a little heat while processing. Do not shampoo your hair once the color is removed for another 24-48 hours. Use only color safe shampoo. Stay out of sun, tanning beds etc. When the color starts to lighten up use an appropriate red enhancing shampoo such as Artec. Best of luck. All reds do fade but this will help the longevity.

well, red does fade faster than any other color no matter what you do. if it needs any pre-treatment, they should do it at the salon. when you get there, tell the colorist what happened to you last time. and then if it does wash right out, they have to fix it for free!

Crazy curly thick frizzy hair...HELP!!!!!!?

Okay, here is the problem...

I have very thick, curly red hair. The curls on the side are pretty ringlet like curls but the back reminds me a bit like ramen noodles!!! Showers take so long because I have to brush my hair and I lose so much hair! I ring a lot of the water out (I have tried leaving it sopping wet and then applying product but that seems to make it fluffy) I apply garnier fructis leave in conditioner and comb through it. Then I apply garnier fructis soft curl creme. THEN I diffuse it. I know air drying it is better but diffusing gives me more body and more defined curls. I sleep with my hair in a high ponytail in a scrunchie but no matter what I do I get awful knots at the nape! And usually get some sort of rats nest in the back.

Ok so now that you have read that huge thing I guess I'll get to the question(s).

-Product suggestions? The garnier fructis stuff has wax which I think is bad for my hair and whenever I take a shower there is yellowish foam left in it.

I have psycho curly thick frizz hair as well. All of my hair is in supercurl mode, but goes to a very soft, wavy testure when I brush it enough. Trust me, when it comes to thick hair, the hairbrush strand thief is your friend. If it weren't for him, my hair'd be horizontal by now.

Anyways, I would suggest daily showers (they're nice, plus you get to try to get your hair in some sort of condition.) I tend to lightly shampoo, then condition your hair. Bring a brush into the shower and run it through the conditioner-filled hair, which gets rid of all of my knots in my rat's nest.

Rinse it out, starting with your original water temperature, then colder, then colder, till its pretty cool (I hate cold showers but if you do it gradually it helps.) The hair, for some reason, holds less cold water than hot. When you finish with the shower, towel dry--make your head parallel to the ground and, with a thick towel, start at the top of the hair and rub your hand on opposite sides of the towel while bringing it down. Brush it right after this to ensure that the toweling antics don't knot up your hair. Don't use a hair drier. The cold water method makes my spongey, holds-water-in-all-day-long hair almost completely dry.

For products, I use VO5 and Suave. The Suave Humectant conditioner is working pretty well for me, and VO5 is great overall--it's cheap, smells nice, and works. Plus it isn't a pain to get out.

There are a few things you can do to help: First, you need to use a shampoo and conditioner that is either for curls or smoothing (not straightening, but frizz-fighting). IT sounds stupid, but it really does make a difference. You mentioned that you are brushing out your hair in the shower; make sure you only do this with conditioner in your hair, because brushing wet hair will cause a lot of damage. Products like Curls Rock by Catwalk are great for styling creams. Apply them before you use the diffuser or air dry. Before you go to bed, apply a leave in conditioner (like Healthy Sexy Hair SoyTri-Wheat Leave in Conditioner), which should fight the tangling. Hope this helps, and good luck!

I have natural red hair that has been heavily highlighted for months. For winter, I opted to have it dyed "strawberry blonde" allover to lift the roots a little and slightly darken the blonde highlights.

I ended up with a brownish auburn color overall. The highlights are fading somewhat -- but not to "reddish blonde" more like "ash blonde/brown".

During the consultation, I showed the stylist 2 pictures which were considerably lighter than what I ended up (think Nicole Kidman in a light red phase) with and what I have now after one shampoo. I also explained that it had been highlighted a month prior.

After she had finished, the stylist admitted that it turned out darker than she meant for it to and gave me their number, "in case I had any problems."

What can I reasonably demand from the salon: a free color correction, a lighter red added when the color fades a little more? And how long should I wait before attempting this -- to avoid more damage from the dye?

At least I would demand that they fix your hair, and make it the way you wanted it. I would ask for my money back on top of that, To lighten it, wash it with dish soap, it will help to strip some of the color out that was just done, and red is a primary color, it will show through, you may end up with the color you wanted. But the salon still owes you.

I would call the salon to explain that them you're just not happy with the dye job. They should, as a good faith effort offer to fix it for free. However, don't call up demanding anything. Say you're upset that they dye is much darker than you'd like and requested and if there is anything they can do to help you, that you'd appreciate it.

In the meantime, I would use a clarifying shampoo every three days (such as Suave Daily Clarifying) to help remove some of the color. Don't flat iron, blow dry, or use excessive styling products in the meantime. Use a good deep conditioner and don't agressively brush...

And whatever you do NEVER use dish soap on your hair, it's WAAAAY too caustic and will damage your hair. Damaged hair leaves open pores and the new dye will take unevenly.

You really won't get anywhere and they honestly don't have to do anything, salons fix problems because they WANT to fix them not because they HAVE to. I would NEVER use a dish detergent. Do not try to strip any color out of your hair just leave it as is, she will be able to correct it a lot easier if you haven't meddled with it. Also this could be a simple mistake that she really couldn't have fully expected if she is relativly new. You had your hair heavily highlighted, this bleached hair would have soaked up color and it come out much darker than she anticipated or what she had mixed up. It could happen to any stylist, it has happen to me a few times, no biggie I just apologized, explained why it done that and asked her if she would like to be reschedualed or if she liked it as is (if they do I give a discount, because in the end it isn't what they wanted).

She seems to be a nice stylist who recognized her mistake because she has already owned up to that and has said she is willing to make adjustments for you. Just give her a ring and explain you have slept on it and are really not too happy adn would liek it fixed, I am sure that will be end of story.

Its a matter of taste, but it depends on the crowd you're going for.

If you're trying to snag an emo guy, go for the emo fashion. I'd suggest medium length hair (a little past the base of your skull, just about to the shoulders) and 2 piercings: One on each ear, for earrings. Black-gem studs would be a bonus, or possibly purple or red earrings, based on your hair color.

If you're going for a regular guy, then have long, single color hair in a girly fashion, with two piercings. This time, go for flashy earrings, or possibly hoop earrings.

This is just my personal taste, though. Many guys like different things.

As a rule I prefer short hair, but it really depends on the shape of the girl's face. Short hair on a chubby girl can sometimes make the face look a bit round. Whilst long hair on a slim girl can make the face look thin and stretched.

I don't know what Emo fashion is, so I will opt for girly.

As for piercings, it depends where. The ears and eyebrow are OK, but I'm not to keen on nose piercings as it looks like a crow (booger) on the side of the nose, and lip piercings make me think of Homer Simpson dribbling.

If you try to lighten her hair now, you'll ruin her hair. Lightening hair dries it out and makes it brittle. Lightening hair immediately after a dye job only excelerates the problem.

Take her to a professional hairdresser. The hairdresser may be able to place highlights in her hair so it's not so "brown" until the color can grow out.

First of all discuss this with your daughter remember its her hair and it will eventually grow out. If you would still like to immediately change it back, its best to bring her to the hair salon and have an expert do it. Its easy to make a mistake. It would be help to have a picture of your daughter before her hair color change so the person dying the hair back knows which shade it is. I don't think there is a way to get all the dye out but if there is I'm sure someone on this site will tell you.

Wash the hell out of it with Dawn dish soap... It's what we tell all of our hair disaster clients who can't a afford to come in. The soap's strong detergents fade hair color. That's about as good as it gets. Take care.

Blonde , the roots were showing so it didn't look pretty good , but if you color it , it would look fantastic , not to mention because of your eyes and skin you would look like a real blonde

By the way you shouldn't get high lites or low lites , because you look great in a '' full '' color , other people can pull high lites and low lites off , but in my opinion you would look trashy in it

You actually look a million times better as a blond than you do as a brunette or dark red. You have ultra light skin, so the darker colors only make that stand out completely. The blond hair has a way of letting your far skin blend with your hair, so you don't have the dark and light effect like you do with darker colors.

If you had a tan you could pull off the other two colors, but right now, you looked better as a blond. That is my opinion, other people might feel differently. But it is your hair, so you should decide what to do with it.

first of all, love the brown. it is your best bet. i would then maybe go slightly darker brown, with some slightly lighter high lights. hope that helps. let us know what you did.

I normally wouldnt say this.... but blonde looks so good on you. I really like the darker shades on the top half of the head and lighter underneath. Try a black/red combo or black/platinum combo. Everything has been done so its really hard to think of totally unique ideas.

The molecular structure of red dye is not as strong as other colours and fades quicker as a result.

This seems to be true of reds in other forms. have you ever seen an older car that is red and the colour seems to be faded and slightly pinkish?

There's not much you can do to preserve red hair colours other than to use a less stringent shampoo. Try a shampoo that is designed specifically for colour treated hair.

I gave up on my red hair after so much disappointment and expense of maintaining it!

If you are a natural redhead rather than a dyed redhead and want to maintain your colour it's a good idea to tie your hair back and cover your head if spending time in the sun. Same in winter with cold winds.

John Freidas shampoo and conditioner formulated for red hair is good for natural and dyed red heads. I'm not sure about the cold water thing, but I know that whether you have well or city water, the minerals and such can cause your hair color to fade or slightly change. A filter for your shower could help with that. I use one and I love it.

I use John Freda for Red heads. I really like their stuff... there isn't much you can do about the natural color fading, my hair is auburn during the winter months and then starts fading to a few shades lighter in the summer.. John Freda does not deposit color onto your hair it enhances your natural color. You don't need to dye your hair.. there is no way a stylist can match up color to your natural color.. Wash your hair in warm water (x2) then use conditioner.. now rinse your conditioner out after about 5 min. with cold water.. this locks in the moisture to keep your hair healthy... You can also use a shine serum to your hair.. sometimes it will make your hair seem a shade darker plus give you that nice healthy shine.

it depends, I don't favor one color, it's what color looks best on them. a lot of people like blonde but it can look trashy, wash you out, or make you look really red. it's way more sexy to have a color that brings out the best in what you were born with.

Help dying hair no dye?

I have really dark brown hair everyone thinks it's black because it's so dark. I put hydrogen peroxide in it so it's got a bit of red shimmer but it's only noticeable in the sun. I really don't want red hair I want dark brown hair, how to I achieve that without it being really red and with out hair dye (my mom won't let me use dye) Lemon Juice, Peroxide, and sun in will turn my hair red

well, there is a brand of hair color called color pulse, its by lorial or however you spell it. on the back, it has a thing that shoes you what color you're hair will turn. you can do it a couple of times over if you want it really red. also try garnier fructis color. i used both and my hair is really red. allmost like an apple, and my real color IS black. so try those and see if they work. well, i guess its not dye. but the color pulse is more of a paint-lie thing, much better for you'r gair that chemicals.

Unfortunately, black hair is the hardest color to change. In fact, it's virtually impossible without bleaching it down to a light color. With reference to lemon juice, peroxide and sun, none of these will really help change black into brown. Sorry, but the only way to really change the color is bleaching.

Lightening black hair will usually bring up red.... there are new gels now with color in them... they're temporary, so if you dont' like them, they wash out..... if you have aSally's Beauty Supply store, go in and ask....

Dye for hair is not very good your hair will turn white before your time! Dye is for old ladies with grey and white hair! The stuff in the box is very bad for hair! This is very true I seen this happened before! Your own color hair that you were born with! please go to a professional and spend money on getting the exact color you want. i cant see you to tell you what i think is best. but you always want to try and match your eyes, not saying green hair but maybe a red would be nice. a professional can foil all different colors in your hair to make a nice contrast. it is worth the money i promise.

heres a little advice about box color. in the industry i am in we charge a hefty price to correct people mistakes that they do themselves. we love box colors because people mess their hair up and then come to us to fix it. i mean c'mon a 5 dollar box of color is suppose to create miracles!! lol

why don't you go to a salon and have the color weaved in. a salon can foil your hair and altenate the colors in the foil. you will have your nat. brown as the base color (not wraped in foil) and this way the roots won't won't look as bad while growing out. . have blonde and red tones weaved in the foil. this turns out really well and looks great.!

okay first things first i have very strong red hair (natural) i got highlights when i was about 11 i think...well im 14 now and last year i got blonde highlights not alot because i love my hair color the way it is but i like when i get highlights so dont say dont get them your hairs pretty blah blah!!

I'm also a red head and I really like the new Pantene Expressions for reds. It's made for colored or natural shades. I don't think it builds up as quickly as other shampoos seem to and I haven't found where it changes my natural hair tones, just seems to boost the color.

John Frieda Radiant Red works well. My wife uses it. Just because it says for "color-treated hair" doesn't mean you can't use it. They just tend to be more moisturizing. Just go a little easier on the conditioner.

if u dry your hair with a hairdryer thats probley the problem hairdryer are great but they damage your hair colour cut down on useing the hairdryer and i think you can bye this spray for your hair so when you do come to dry it the spray will protect your hair

UMM i personally hate the dress but if you say it looks better in person well ok...usually girls wear that curly bun for the prom but it wouldnt look right with that particular dress soo maybe u should leave your hair out either curly or straight but dont part it down teh middle part it to the saide and maybe wear a head band one of those thick one super cute and i wish you teh best of luck at that ball

No they will not put extensions in for you. It's just a supply store. They should have a J%26amp;L ring to pick colors from and can likely order the color you need to match your hair. You'd have better luck at what we call a "hair store" here...check your phone book for other beauty suppliers besides Sally's.
