How do you get your hair back to it's normal color?

I dyed my hair months ago a dark brown/red color. My hair is naturally dirty blonde. Now I want it back to my normal color but it's not working! I bought some Clairol bleaching stuff and did it and the only thing it bleached was my roots!! So now I have bleach blonde roots and dark brown/red hair!!!! HELP! I can't afford to go to a stylist. Is there anything I can do from home????

Yeah you might just need to grow it out. I have done the same thing a dozen times. There are hair strippers that you can get like at sally beauty supply and they can work great as well. You will just have to condition your hair alot after using one of those. Good luck

How do you get your hair back to it's normal color?

use a permanent dye that is the same color as your natural hair and grow it out... Only a professional can truly strip your hair, and it's not something that is commonly done

Don't do anymore bleach. Dye it all dark brown/red again using a home kit, and then just let it grow out. While it's growing you may have to dye it a color that is close to your natural dirty blond color so you won't have two-toned hair.

Sorry kiddo! Unless you go to a salon, you're stuck. Red is the single hardest color to get out of your hair. DO NOT put anymore bleach on your hair. It is too damaging unless it is being used by a professional. Start calling salons and shopping for prices or check out a local cosmetology school. They can usually help for VERY low prices. Your only other option is to stay dark.

I have tried using dish soap, like Dawn, or Palmolive, when I have dyed my hair too dark and want to lighten it. I wouldn't recommend using it ever time you shower just maybe every 3-4 days, and then don't use a shampoo for color treated hair.

There are special products that wash the dye out of your hair. Go to a big store (not a supermarket) and ask the staff about such a product, it will help with the brown, but it won't get the bleaching away, so you may need to dye the roots in your original color.

There are some commercial products to remove dye from hair, and a few home potions and processes.

Color Fix by Jheri Redding is designed to remove unwanted permant hair color, and controlled usage allows color correction to specific areas, either full or slight color corrections.

Loreal Color Zap gently washes away all permanent haircolor. Ideal for color correction, removal of dark shades, muddy, uneven results or color build up. Leaves hair ready for immediate re-coloring. Loreal Effasol Color Remover washes away permanent haircolor, leaving hair ready for recoloring. Can be used with water or developer.

Jerome Rusell's Punky Color Punk Off is an easy to use gel that will cleanse your skin from hair dye stains.

Roux Clean Touch is a gentle formula that removes haircolor from skin and scalp. Removes excess color from hair ends and assists in removing stains from clothing.

Home remedies include this one:

Hot Oil treatments, hairspray, shampooing and exposure to water will gradually fade hair dye.

To remove the last bit of residue or stain on the hair (or to get color out immediately) make up a small batch of bleach mixture and add it to 2 tablespoons or so of shampoo in a cup. Stir it up.

Shampoo your hair with this mixture, "kneading" the hair. Start at the roots and work your way down to the end, and then back up.

You should see the color disappear right before your eyes.

If you used permanent hair dye, you hair will only return to it's natural color after it has completely grown out. If your hair is slow growing, and yours sounds like it is, it could take more than a year. What I suggest is that you go see a professional. She/he can show you some hair color samples and you can pick one that is closest to what you remember the color of you hair to be. That way, it won't be so noticeable when it does grow out.

Keep in mind however, that you hair color may have changed by now (especially if you are young). My daughter died her blonde hair and by the time it finally grew out - it was a beautiful rich brown!

Look for "Color Zap" by L'Oreal or "Color Fix" by Jheri Redding. Either of these products will remove some of what dye is already on your hair. Since you already bleached your hair, you need to be careful not to overprocess it and damage it further. After using one of the color-removal products, pick a color that is closest to your natural color and apply it. The best method to fix this is to let a professional take care of it, so your hair doesn't get damaged any more. If you can find a way to afford it, that's your best option. Otherwise, try what I listed above.

It sounds to me that you didn't allow the bleach to work for long enough. Instead of bleaching again (which is SO damaging to your hair) I would buy a very light blonde hair-dye kit at the store. Loreal Preference works pretty well, but it's nicer to your hair to use Herbal Essences. Most blonde hair dyes have some amount of bleach in them, so that should bring your hair closer to it's natural color. However, don't expect a miracle. It might come close to your natural color, or it might turn orange... it's kinda hard to tell. Also, all of this dyeing is really damaging to your hair... make sure you use a good conditioner every day to counter-act the damage.

Truly, your best bet is to cut your hair short and start again.

LET IT GROW dont do anything to it nothing and u will seethen when its long enough u can cut off the colored part

How do you get your hair back to it's normal color?

You don't really have to cut your hair off nor color it back dark, try a color remover. If used a permanent color, I would recommend Colorfix because it's very gentle and it can be used a second time right away if the desired level is not achieved with the first application. If your hair isn't thick nor longer than chin length you may be able to use 1/2 of it, mix it in a bowl so you can save the rest for a second application if necessary. It would be great if you can get a friend to help you apply it though because it must be done fast as the mixture loses effect after 20 minutes.

Your hair is not going to return to natural color but you can recolor it right away. It's very important that once you complete the removal process the shade on your length is at the same level (or very close) to the bleached roots. Recolor with a violet based medium blond (usually described as "natural" or "beige"); if the length turned out a little darker than the roots than choose a dark blond or even a light brown. You'll be better off with a semi or demi-permanent formula to minimize damage to your hair. Whatever you choose, develop only long enough to achieve the desired color: about 5 minutes for permanent and maybe a little longer for semi/demi; since your hair is now of higher porosity leaving on full time would darken it to an undesired level.

Be sure to finish by using a rich conditioner and about 10 days later use a "hair mask" to help replenish moisture and protein lost during this process.
